A Clinical Study on the Korean Elementary School Children with psychiatric Problem


Abstract
The author studied retrospectively the clinical characteristics of 90 elementary school children who made their first visit to psychiatric department of Seoul Red Cross Hospital, from January 1992 to December 1994.
@ES The results were as follows:
@EN 1) The number of male patients were larger than female patients in the ratio of 2.6:1, patients from age of 8 and 10 were 17.7% and they were the largest in age group distribution.
2) In grade distribution, 6th grade was the most common.
3) Diagnostic distribution of these children was in following order: Tic disorder (18.9%), sleep disorder (16.7%), Convulsive disorder913.3%), conduct disorder(8.9%).
4) The number of therapeutic session was in following order: two to four session(36.7%), only one session(27.8%), more ten session(24.4%).
5) In the duration of illness over six months was the most common.
6) The referral source of these children was in following order: parents(66.7%), pediatric department (24.4%).
